As the 2019 Scottish Six Days Trial is now just a matter of days away, much of the media focus is on Dougie Lampkin (Vertigo) and whether he can keep his incredible run of seven consecutive wins going - and of course if he can add to his record number of 12 victories. However there's another important trophy up for grabs this year and that is for the Best Scottish rider. Kinlochleven ace Gary MacDonald, who has earned the award for the last six years, is taking a rest from the Six Days Trial this year, although he will be taking part in the Scottish Pre-65 Two Day Trial where he will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of wins in that event.
Scotland's other top riders, Andrew Anderson (Scorpa) and pal Craig Houston (Scorpa) have had to be content to sit back and watch Gary storm away with the honours over the past few years, but this year Craig will also be absent leaving Andrew the favourite to lift the prestigious Ian Fender Quaich. However, young guns Joe Dawson (TRS) and Duncan McColl (Beta) can't be ruled out in the quest for home glory. Both are on the rise and are more than capable of stepping up to the challenge. Let battle commence!
