Edinburgh & District Motor Club, organisers of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) respects your privacy and we will only use your information in the way we describe in this notice. When using your information we aim to be fair and transparent, and to follow our obligations under UK data protection laws. Your information is used for processing SSDT entries, for processing applications for funding from the SSDT Lochaber Community fund or for SSDT media accreditation and for responding to communications received by the Club.

Edinburgh & District Motor Club is the data controller for the purpose of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Questions relating to privacy and the use of personal information may be submitted via our contact form.

Collecting your information

We collect your information when you fill in SSDT event entry forms, if you apply for funding from the SSDT Lochaber Community Fund or media accreditation or when you contact us by email, letter or telephone. The information you give us may include your contact details (name, address, telephone number, email address), personal information and identifiers (date of birth, competition licence number), and other information (motorcycle details). When you give us information about another person, such as a child, parent, guardian, or emergency contact you should let that person know that you have given us the information.

If you are under 18 years old, we will also ask for information from your parent or guardian.

Using your information

We use your information for the processing of SSDT entries, for the processing of applications for funding or media accreditation, for responding to received enquiries and for the recording and publication of event results. If you are an entrant in the SSDT we will publish some of your information in the official SSDT programme and the event results, which will be in the public domain. Images of you taking part in the SSDT may also be used on the SSDT website.

When entering the SSDT we will ask you for emergency contact and next of kin details which we will only use in an emergency, and which is used for a legitimate interest. You should let the contact and next of kin know that you have given this information to us.

To support your relationship with Edinburgh & District Motor Club and the SSDT we may keep your information indefinitely. Entry lists are retained until after the SSDT they relate to for the purposes of organising and administering the event and the management of event reserve lists. Unless we are required to retain information by relevant legislation, we will, at your request, delete your personal data from our systems.

Sharing your information

We may share limited details of your information with third parties for the purposes of the SSDT event programme and to media partners. This will be restricted to your name, gender, country of birth, any Motorcycle Trials Club you are a member of, whether you have previously participated in an SSDT and the manufacturer of the motorcycle you ride.

We do not share any part of your information with any third party for the purposes of marketing.

Our website

When you use our website we may collect information about you, in particular your IP (Internet Protocol) address. Like most websites we use this information aggregated for statistical analysis and to improve your web experience. We do not collect any other identifiable information from website visitors unless you specifically contact us.

The SSDT website does not use any tracking cookies.

The SSDT website contains links to other websites such as event sponsors and partners. If you follow links to other websites please review the privacy policy for each site. We are not responsible for information you share on those sites.

Security for your information

Your information is held securely by us. We have taken all reasonable steps, and have in place appropriate security measures, to protect your information. Your information is not transferred outside of the European Economic Area.

Your rights

  • You are entitled to a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct any inaccuracies.
  • You may ask us to stop using your information, and to delete it. If you ask us to do this we will not be able to continue our engagement with you.
